What is a RAiD?

A RAiD - Research Activity Identifier - is a globally unique, persistent identifier that refers unambiguously to a research project.

A RAiD has two components:

  1. A globally unique alphanumeric identifier

  2. A metadata record containing information about a project.

The metadata can contain information such as the project title, the researchers and organisations involved as well as the inputs and outputs of the project. The RAiD metadata schema defines what information about the project can be stored in a RAiD metadata record.

Both the identifier and metadata are stored in the global RAiD system.

By using the identifier and interacting with the global RAiD system, you can retrieve the project metadata.

Organisations can create RAiDs to publicly share information about projects with each other.
