R25 Impact and Requirements

ANDS Online Services Release 25 will be implemented on Wednesday 11 October 2017 from 8:00am to 12:00pm ADST. During the implementation the following services are impacted:

• Research Data Australia (RDA)
• RDA Registry
• Research Vocabularies Australia (RVA) portal

Unaffected services

• ANDS DOI service
• RVA editor (PoolParty)
• ANDS Handle service

Please find below the summary of all Release 25 changes with an overview of who, what and how the changes will impact our users.

Research Data Australia (RDA)

Change. Correct the display title for party records with both 'superior' and 'subordinate' primary name parts

• Who is affected: RDA users
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) Party records containing both 'superior' and 'subordinate' primary name parts will be displayed in RDA as 'superior : subordinate'.
• Documentation affected/needed: Online Services Technical Updates
• Requirements: Release announcements will be sent to ANDS staff, Data Source Administrators, ANDS partners, and general users.

Change. Update the Temporal search filter behaviour to be inclusive

• Who is affected: RDA users
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) Up until now, the Temporal search filter in RDA functioned by limiting search results to only those records which had temporal dates, which were contained within a specified temporal search range. This change updates the Temporal filter behaviour to limit search results to any records which have temporal dates which are contained within, intersect, or completely overlap the specified temporal search range.

Change. Remove unnecessary javascript causing unexpected scroll behavior

• Who is affected: RDA users
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) Users should no longer experience unexpected scrolling and gesture behaviors when using the site.
• Documentation affected/needed: Online Services Technical Updates
• Requirements: Release announcements will be sent to ANDS staff, Data Source Administrators, ANDS partners, and general users.

Change. Fix issue where access points for collections are being duplicated under the Go To Data Provider button on the view page

• Who is affected: RDA users. Data Source Administrators
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) RDA users will no longer see duplicated access points for collection records.
• Documentation affected/needed: Online Services Technical Updates
• Requirements: Release announcements will be sent to ANDS staff, Data Source Administrators, ANDS partners, and general users.

Change. Ensure RDA URLs with only the ID are resolved to the full URL

• Who is affected: RDA users
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) Users will be redirected the full RDA URL for a record when accessing RDAURL which consists of just the domain and record id.
• Documentation affected/needed: Online Services Technical Updates
• Requirements: Release announcements will be sent to ANDS staff, Data Source Administrators, ANDS partners, and general users.

Research Vocabularies Australia (RVA)

Change. Correctly display related entity URLs and identifiers in the related entity preview pop-out on the vocabulary view page

• Who is affected: RVA users
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) Related entity URLs and identifiers will now be visible in the related entity popout.
• Documentation affected/needed: Online Services Technical Updates
• Requirements: Release announcements will be sent to ANDS staff, Data Source Administrators, ANDS partners, and general users.

RDA Registry

Change. Display a user-friendly version of the development changelog on the Online Services Homepage.

• Who is affected: Registry Users
• Action required: No action required.
• Impact: (low) A user-friendly changelog detailing the latest changes to the Registry and RDA will be pulled from theANDSsource code repository and displayed on the Online Services Homepage.
